Default Bitcoin and other digital currencies/cryptocurrencies

Bu Momod, ijin buka trit baru ya, klo ga boleh or mau digabung dng trit lain gpp kok Hidden Content Kemarin ada yg singgung soal "bitcoin" jadi kepikiran utk buka trit ini supaya mak-mak disini uptodate dng kondisi keuangan dunia sekarang. FD-ers disini harus lbh canggih dong yah Hidden Content Sy jg baru bbrp bulan belakangan ini suka baca2 tent bitcoin, ga lain ga bukan krn sering muncul di berita, tp blom pernah liat apalagi gunain currency ini.

Nah, kita mulai aja yah. Apa sih bitcoin itu?
Bitcoin is a digital currency that was created in 2009 by an unknown person using the alias Satoshi Nakamoto. Transactions are made with no middle men – meaning, no banks! There are no transaction fees and no need to give your real name. More merchants are beginning to accept them: You can buy webhosting services, pizza or even manicures.

    Why Bitcoins?

Bitcoins can be used to buy merchandise anonymously. In addition, international payments are easy and cheap because bitcoins are not tied to any country or subject to regulation. Small businesses may like them because there are no credit card fees. Some people just buy bitcoins as an investment, hoping that they’ll go up in value.
    *Blom ada regulasinya loh*

    Acquiring Bitcoins

    Buy on an Exchange
Several marketplaces called “bitcoin exchanges” allow people to buy or sell bitcoins using different currencies. Mt. Gox is the largest bitcoin exchange. Hidden Content

    Transfers
People can send bitcoins to each other using mobile apps or their computers. It’s similar to sending cash digitally.

    Mining
People compete to “mine” bitcoins using computers to solve complex math puzzles. This is how bitcoins are created. Currently, a winner is rewarded with 25 bitcoins roughly every 10 minutes.
*seperti main games aja dong? nti kita "digging"/gali lagi soal ini*

    Owning Bitcoins

Bitcoins are stored in a “digital wallet,” which exists either in the cloud or on a user’s computer. The wallet is a kind of virtual bank account that allows users to send or receive bitcoins, pay for goods or save their money. Unlike bank accounts, bitcoin wallets are not insured by the FDIC (Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation Hidden Content )
    *semacam LPS klo disini*
    KERUGIAN:
Wallet in cloud: Servers have been hacked. Companies have fled with clients’ Bitcoins.
Wallet on computer: You can accidentally delete them. Viruses could destroy them.

    Anonymity

Though each bitcoin transaction is recorded in a public log, names of buyers and sellers are never revealed – only their wallet IDs. While that keeps bitcoin users’ transactions private, it also lets them buy or sell anything without easily tracing it back to them. That’s why it has become the currency of choice for people online buying drugs or other illicit activities.

    Future in question

No one knows what will become of bitcoin. It is mostly unregulated, but that could change. Governments are concerned about taxation and their lack of control over the currency.

    NOTE:
    1. Seperti yg sudah pernah di-sharing di trit sebelah, Alan Greenspan (pendahulu Bernanke) sdh bilang klo Bitcoin sdh mengalami bubble krn th ini sdh mengalami kenaikan yg luar biasa. Tp yah seperti biasa, ada org yg ga percaya... kita liat aja nanti klo soal ini. Hidden Content .

Tambahan dr wikipedia: Many have mentioned speculative bubbles in connection with Bitcoin. Professor John Quiggin of the University of Queensland has noted that since Bitcoin by design has no intrinsic value, it is "perhaps the finest example of a pure bubble" currently known and "represent[s] the sharpest ever refutation of the efficient-markets hypothesis", but cautions that we have no way to predict when the value of bitcoins will return to zero.

    2. Minggu lalu People's Bank of China memperingatkan bhw bitcoin ini sangat beresiko n menginstruksikan institusi2 keuangan disana utk tidak menggunakan bitcoin. Hal ini menyebabkan nilai bitcoin jatuh s/d 30% (dr tertinggi $1240 ke sekitar $870), skrg udah balik di kurleb $950 tp terakhir sy liat blom tembus diatas $1000. Hidden Content

    3. Bitcoin jg disinyalir sebagai alat utk membeli barang2 ilegal/online gambling/drugs sampai dng pencucian uang.

    4. Bitcoin ini bisa didapat dng cara dibeli or ditambang/"mining". Klo beli harga berfluktuasi. Klo mau menambang bitcoin bisa join di Pool (pool yg paling terkenal skrg Slush's Pool).

Default Bitcoin and other digital currencies/cryptocurrencies

Nanggung, diterusin aja yah. Th 2011 keluar versi penyempurnaan dr Bitcoin, yaitu Litecoin:

    Hidden Content

    What is Litecoin?
Litecoin is an alternative cryptocurrency based on Bitcoin. It differs from Bitcoin in that it targets a faster block rate/faster transaction confirmations (2.5 minutes, four times Bitcoin's rate) and uses scrypt for the primary hashing done in mining. MtGox announced in April 2013 that they would add support for Litecoin trading, a plan that was delayed due to recent DDOS attacks.

    Hidden Content
Litecoin was released via an open-source client on GitHub on October 7, 2011 by Charles Lee.[21] It was a fork of the Bitcoin-Qt client, differing primarily by having a decreased block generation time, increased maximum number of coins, different hashing algorithm, and a slightly modified GUI

Litecoin is a peer-to-peer Internet currency that enables instant payments to anyone in the world. It is based on the Bitcoin protocol but differs from Bitcoin in that it can be efficiently mined with consumer-grade hardware. Inspired by and technically similar to Bitcoin (BTC), Litecoin creation and transfer is based on an open source protocol and is not managed by any central authority. Litecoin is intended by its developers to improve upon Bitcoin, offering several key differences.

As of November 2013, Litecoin had received extended coverage by mainstream media with agencies such as the Wall Street Journal, CNBC and New York times citing it as an alternative (or possibly even successor) to Bitcoin. During the month of November 2013, the aggregate value of Litecoin experienced massive growth which included a 100% leap within 24 hours.
In 2013, The Economist mentioned Litecoin as a Bitcoin alternative, noting that it "has shot up in price of late".

    Hidden Content
Cryptocurrencies ternyata bukan cuma Bitcoin n Litecoin, tp total ada 9 yg tercatat di wikipedia, yang tertua adl Bitcoin (2009) dng market cap terbesar $9,3 billion, disusul th 2011 Litecoin n Namecoin, th 2012 muncul Peercoin dan di th 2013 total ada 5 cryptocurrencies baru yg beredar Yacoin, Novacoin, Feathercoin, Anoncoin n Primecoin. Klo kita mah asal tau aja yah, yang menggunakan mungkin anak cucu kita hehehe.......

Recent days have brought headlines about Chinese authorities clamping down on Bitcoin — not wanting various institutions to deal in the digital currency.

The latest is that BTC China, the big Bitcoin startup there, announced that it could no longer accept deposits in the local currency.

This makes sense. One of the big things that everyone was talking about was how Bitcoin made for the perfect tool to circumvent capital controls (restrictions on getting money out of the country).

So Bitcoin is getting crushed. Not that long ago it was above $1,000. Then it settled into around a $900 area, then it dropped to around $700.
    Now it's around $500.

Your money is no good here: Hans Christian Holte, director general of taxation in Norway, say Bitcoin is not a currency

The fortunes of Bitcoins continue to fluctuate after the Norwegian government announced that is does not count as real money.

The virtual currency has left governments throughout the world scratching their heads as it is not controlled by a government or any central bank.

But a government offical in Norway, Scandinavia's richest nation, is the latest to express doubts over the legitimacy of Bitcoins.

'Bitcoins don’t fall under the usual definition of money or currency,' Hans Christian Holte, director general of taxation in Norway, said.

Instead, Norway will classify Bitcoins as an asset, subject to capital gains tax.

Penyebabnya adl krn Bernanke memberikan respon positif kpd Bitcoin.

    Hidden Content

Sejak Bernanke mengeluarkan pernyataan tersebut, nilai tukar bitcoin naik hingga US$200 per 1 bitcoin (btc) menjadi US$785. Padahal, di akhir 2012, bitcoin hanya US$13,5 per 1 btc.

Googling aja pakai keyword "cara mining bitcoin" smua keluar.

Bitcoin mmg lama, makanya keluar adiknya yaitu Litecoin yg 4x lbh cepat. Iya klo dibilang gampang dapatin itu, sebenernya ga jg, hrs kuat2an hardware n software.

O ya, info terakhir, slain eropa n china , central banknya india jg mulai memberi peringatan terhdp resiko2 yg ada pd digital currencies khususnya bitcoin, spt yg kita tau neg india mmg kuat di bidang IT jg disana bitcoin udah booming. Krn central bank india bereaksi keras, maka operator bitcoin disana sempet menghentikan operasinya. Terakhir sy liat bitcoin msh di kisaran $770. Makin banyak neg yg "melarang" digital currency nih, value-nya bisa turun atau fungsinya balik lagi ke yg dulu yaitu cuma bisa digunain di digital world, ga bisa digunain di real world lg. Th 2010 value bitcoin masih dibawah $1 lho, melambung jd $1200 di awal des 2013, gelo yah...

India's biggest Bitcoin trading platform said on its website Friday it had suspended operations after the central bank warned against the risks of using virtual money.
BuySellBitCo.in closed its platform, citing an advisory by the Reserve Bank of India issued on Christmas Eve highlighting the risks of trading in digital currencies.
"We are suspending buy and sell operations until we can outline a clearer framework with which to work," BuySellBitCo.in said on its website, adding that the move was "to protect the interest of our customers".
